The Security Guard
In order to receive such licensing, as with the previous-mentioned eight-hour pre-assignment security guard exam, the student has to take another eight-hour course to get a security guard license, which requires even more extensive training in security logistics. This too requires a fee,which can also vary from state to state. This exam also requires that one submits to a criminal background check as well as drug testing. Once attained, the student/security guard can now legally serve as a licensed security officer in their state. But it is still not over, because still more is involved.
A security guard still has to receive continual training even while serving in such a capacity; there are required to take a 16-hour course either randomly or annually (depending on the requirements of the company or state), in which they have to prove their competency and worthiness to continue serving as a security guard. A security guard’s license generally last for two years, so they have to renew it at those times. the fee then is significantly lower than when they first applied for their license the first. Usually there is no need to take the security guard exam over again, they are just paying for a new or updated one, much like a motorist has to renew their driver’s license every four years or so, depending on their state’s rules and regulations, of course.
