Firefighter Brotherhood
Watching the news you see the firefighters putting out a blaze at some building downtown. Afterwards there is discussion about what was done to help save a small child or another adult. Firefighters and reporters may even discuss the “brotherhood.” When you think of a firefighter brotherhood you may understand that it is a special bond, but it is much more than that. When you are a firefighter you are going through something that no one else can understand.
Your team will become your family and it is something that no firefighter can fully explain. There have been explanations made and the basic idea is there but unless you experience what a firefighter does every day there is no way to fully understand. Entering buildings that have zero visibility and searching for victims, being in the extreme heat and fighting to breath, never knowing what is coming around the next corner, this is something that can not be explained.
The firefighter brotherhood may seem like a secret and in a way it is. You can ask any firefighter about the special bond that they share with the members of the unit and they will try to explain it, but they just can not come close. It is something that can not be understood unless you experience it. The firefighter brotherhood will always live on as it is not just about the job. It is about taking pride in your work, sharing your experiences, and taking care of each other. As long as there are firefighters a firefighter brotherhood will exist.
