Navy Background Checks

A background check is the process of investigating a person’s criminal records, financial or credit records and employment history. Most often, background checks are requested by employers or would-be employers of a person who is applying for a job that requires high security such as positions in the government and military, hospitals and financial institutions. These checks are means to identify potential risks that may go along with future employment.

Those who aspire to join the US Navy are very much subject to background checks to probe their criminal and driving records. These people may also be subject to credit check and those with unsatisfactory record may not qualify. In addition, Navy recruits are required to undergo a drug test as the Navy has a zero tolerance on drug and alcohol use. Once the applicant submits his application and other relevant documents, all information will eventually be stuck into a computer system and this will be used for background checking.

If the person has done any kind of law violations, he has to disclose this to his recruiter to refrain from being pulled aside and get grilled during basic training. If the candidate has bad credit, he has to say something. Credit checks are simple to run and they can mess up everything. Some of the things that are usually looked for are court records nationwide. Recruiters may also do police checks. Sometimes investigators keep in touch or visit the candidate’s references; thus, it is advised to use people who are in good standing.
