Neonatal Nurse Practitioners specialize in providing care for the premature babies, high-risk infants and others who need special attention like those with abnormalities, congenital heart conditions, respiratory problems, different disorders and low birth weight from birth up to the second year of life. These nurse practitioners usually work in a tertiary hospital because that is where neonatal intensive care units can be found. They can also work in Obstetrics and Nursery department of hospitals. They do not only provide care for the infant but also to the family who experiences stress due to having a baby that needs special attention.
