This was the very first triathlon book that I read. I was sitting with a friend one day when he mentioned that he had an uncle who was 50+ and doing world class Ironman races. At the time I was 34 and feeling pretty whipped an out of shape. Something about the conversation inspired me and I was off to the library the next day and came back to work with a stack of triathlon books. I studied and prepared for my first race which I did later that year. My first race was an eye opener and I certainly got a lot of things wrong.

It had been several years now and I absolutely LOVE triathlon racing. I am not a tri fanatic but it is a great way for me to stay in shape. Triathlon training has made me healthier and more efficient than when I wan in my twenties. I continue to get inspired by watching aged athletes compete. If I am blessed to be around for a long time, it is my hope that I can race until my time is up. This book is a great start for beginners and I still practice the wise instruction that I first got from this book.

Ahh yes…..your first race is kinda like your first….

    Well…maybe not that good..

BUT you sure get a sense of accomplishment from nailing your first race. I don’t know about the mountain bike dude… I suppose if was an Xterra race up in Tahoe then it would be appropriate but doesn’t sound like that was the case. Memorable indeed! : )
