Personal Trainer Qualities: Flexibility Within the Schedule

Personal trainers not only have to have physical flexibility, but they need to have some flexibility in their schedule as well. When personal trainers have a flexible schedule, this allows for them to provide service to as many customers as they can. If a personal trainer did not have a flexible schedule, then many “could-be patients” of hers, would not choose her because her class times do not fit within their schedule. So to ensure personal trainers get the maximum amount of customers that they can, all personal trainers must have an extremely flexible schedule so that their classes can fit into anyone’s lifestyle. A creative way to determine your schedule is to be available a variety of shifts throughout the week, and then maybe one day on the weekend. Even though you are still allowing your hours to total up to 40 hours a week, you will be more likely to attract customers, no matter what time they are available.

In order to be a personal trainer, it will take more than having a flexible schedule. Personal trainer schools are the best way to prepare yourself to enter into the personal trainer career. As a personal trainer student you will learn how to effectively communicate and teach your customers on how to work out, plus learn some techniques and tips yourself. Other than schools, there are personal trainer programs. In these programs you can experience what it is really like to be a personal trainer, and you will most likely get to intern an experienced personal trainer.

Unfortunately, no matter how good of a personal trainer you are, you will not succeed in the career if you do not have flexible hours for everyone that wants to attend your classes. While everyone’s schedule is different, personal trainers do tend to work a lot more in the evenings and weekends than they would like to, but it is when the majority of customers are available. An example f a great schedule for a personal trainer is: 1 day in the week starting very early (5 AM), 1 day starting at 8 AM, and another day not starting until 4 or 5 PM. Then maybe be available for 8 hours both Saturday and Sunday. If this is not possible, then be available Saturday, and work another night shift during the week. This example shows extreme flexibility, and it will ensure that you can serve every customer.
