Pharmacist technicians play an important role in society today. They aid licensed pharmacists in distributing medication to thousands of people each day. When dealing with strong medication and prescription drugs you want to be able to trust your pharmacist with all your heart. You do not want to receive the wrong medication because it could be extremely harmful to you.
Pharmacist technicians are required to have a background check before entering work. Pharmacists are also required to submit their fingerprints into record for search and future reference. When an employer is looking at your background they will look for anything from minor to serious.
Whether you have misdemeanors or felony convictions that you either plead guilty or no contest to it will slow the employment process down. Companies will examine your offenses and determine the severity of them before allowing you to go to work. Being honest and truthful during your interview will help reduce these delays. Since you know a background check is required you should be up front and tell your interviewer and marks you have on your background. This will show honesty to your employer and it will help speed the background process up.
Although you may not have the best background check your offenses may not disqualify you from being a pharmacist technician. Employers realize that applicants are only human and make mistakes. It depends on the severity of your mistakes that determine your eligibility for employment. If all you have on your background check are minor traffic offenses you will more than likely be all right.
When doing background checks your employer will be looking hard at any theft or drug charges. Drug charges that deal with illegal possession of prescription pills will set off flags immediately. You will want to tell your employer the date of these convictions and how they were handled in order for them to continue any further. Your employer has to trust you with thousands of prescription drugs and does not want to worry about you stealing them for other or yourself. Having severe criminal charges such as theft and drug possession may disqualify you or may hinder you from employment.
Pharmacist technicians are also required to take drug screens before entering the work place. You are dealing with important medication and prescriptions that cannot be mixed up. You have to be sober and clear headed to perform this job correctly. You need your focus. Pharmacist technicians are also at risk or random drug screening and these can pop up when least expected. When applying for a pharmacist technicians job you want to be sure your background is pretty clean and if not, be sure to be up front about it. You also must be able to pass a mandatory drug screen.
