Certified Flight Paramedic Exam Study Guide

The difference in EMT’s and Paramedics is the amount of training that each has had. There are two different levels of an EMT, basic and intermediate. The EMT does not have as much training as the Paramedic. A basic EMT has been trained to assist in patient care at the scene. Basic EMT’s have been trained to use emergency skills that are needed for basic patient care. The Intermediate EMT has more training than the basic EMT. They have been trained to assess patients in any situation and care for cardiac, respiratory, as well as trauma patients. Paramedics are the highest level and they have been trained to administer medications, set up IV’s, perform endotracheal intubations, and read EKG’s. All of the jobs in this field are a very important part of vital patient care.
