A physician assistant or a physician associate (PA) is a noble profession just like a licensed medical practitioner. A career as a Physician assistant offers splendid job opportunities and the revenue generated from this profession is enormous. The return of investment (ROI) in this field is very high, i.e. you invest less but you can gain huge revenue with this. This has been regarded as the fastest rising profession with respect to the job aspects and salaries obtained. In this article we shall learn about the amount of money a physician assistant can earn based on his skill and level of education.
NEW GRADUATES:
New graduates with a masters degree in Health Science (MHS) or Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) will surely earn a handsome sum anywhere between $35,000 to $45,000 on an annual basis. This sum will vary depending on a variety of factors like the location and industry you are working in, the type of duties you handle as a physician assistant. The reason why such an emphasis is given on these factors is because new graduates may be sidelined in a public hospital because competition will be much higher in these institutions, whereas if the graduate is employed in a private hospital he/she can earn much more than those earned in a public hospital. Also the reputation of the university he/she graduated from does have an influence in the salary a PA receives.
PART TIME PHYSICIAN ASSISTANTS:
The salaries of part time physician assistants who are very much experienced is in the range of $35,000-$40,000. Actually this is a tricky estimate because part time physician assistants work in more than two or three organizations and chances are that they may earn much more than $100,000/year. But this is generally not cited as the salary of a part time PA. Also their salary is given on an hourly basis.
FULL TIME PHYSICIAN ASSISTANTS:
This is anywhere between $45,000-$80,000 depending on the skill and experience of the PA. The salary varies for the type of job they carry out. Full time PA’s with no experience will receive a salary of around $45,000/year whereas a full time PA with considerable experience may receive something around $55,000/year and experienced campaigners may receive something in the range of $70,000-$80,000/year.
SEASONED VETERANS:
The average salary of seasoned veterans is in the range of $70,000-$80,000/year. Highly experienced PA’s working in radiography and health care receive the highest salary according to a survey. Their average salary is around a whopping $110,000/year.
