It is very important that a physician assistant must act like a professional and follow the rules of ethics in order to sustain the credibility of his career and to maintain his stature as a reputed physician assistant inĀ  society. Any breach in the code of conduct will lead to cessation of his/her license. Given below are some of the strict regulations that have been implemented or put forward in order to make this profession of physician assistant a noble one. In case of admission into any college seeking a degree in physician assistant course, the candidate should have a clean background. He/she should not be convicted in any charges of crime like theft, murder or felony, misconduct, fraud, drug abuse, etc. If the candidate has cleared this test then he shall be termed as clean and given admission to that particular college. Any felony or murder conviction which is not more than ten years from the date of application will be rejected by any universities or colleges.

Any charges of child abuse, sexual abuse or rape will definitely deny an admission into any college anywhere in this world. This is the universal law that a candidate should respect children and people of their opposite sex and any misconduct towards them is completely unacceptable. Also the candidate should be in a sound state of mind without any psychological or physiological disorders. A candidate with any kind of psychological disorders will be denied admission into any college under all circumstances. In case of a candidate with certain kinds of ill-background, i.e. criminal records mentioned in first point, there are certain concessions while considering the admission procedures. They are given below.

A candidate can be considered acceptable and given a seat if the murder conviction on the candidate from the date of application is more than ten years. This is entirely dependent on the university varsities to decide whether to allow or disallow the candidature by evaluating the extent of his/her crime, the reasons for the crime, etc. The candidate should submit an explanatory letter to the authorities and they will then decide on the candidates future. A cleared candidate should however maintain good credits during his course of study to attain a degree. The candidate should maintain a minimum of 3.5 grade point average throughout his course of study. Any glitches in these will lead to a drop-out of the candidate. The candidate should maintain a good demeanor during his course of study. These are the requirements that are to be satisfied by a candidate before and during his course of study. This does not imply that he/she is free after becoming a professional. The candidate should be loyal and honest in his profession and must strictly abide by the code of ethics.
