TIP
A great number of the courses needed to continue education and complete a radiology technician program are offered through hospitals, universities, colleges and other vocational technical schools. Depending on the nature of the radiology technician’s chosen career path, not all programs will be the same, and finding which will be right for the student’s goals is key. As mentioned, the only coursework that is available online is for the general educational requirements.
Also, though, the difference between a radiology technician and a certified radiologic technologist should be noted, as it does make a difference in the educational requirements and most limited scope radiology technician degrees will be two year, whereas certified radiologic technologist programs may differ and take longer to complete. Most basic science and general education requirements of the degree can be completed through online coursework, however, any clinical or on the job training will not be available in this way so that must be considered as well. More often than not, an online course will take care of the required prerequisites to the actual radiology technician’s clinical program.
