What is a Sonography Technician?

Diagnostic sonography exploded on the medical scene way back in 1970. It amazes the people because of its ability to see the unseen world of the unborn babies. Consequently, as sonography matured as profession, the need for training progressed to what we have today. Various institutions teach the use of high frequency sound wave to produce active visual images of organs, tissues and blood flow inside the body.


The results are being used by doctors to determine the condition of a patient. The importance and the role of sonography and its programs became the start of a growing career for more students who are interested in working in health care but don’t  necessarily want to become a nurse or medical aide.


Sonography is not just for pregnancy care but also in other aspect of life as it develops through the years, it was also being used for cardiology, ophthalmology, vascular care, psychiatry and radiology. Ultrasound technician can apply and work in these areas of medicine right after graduation.


As the medical industry develops, sonography careers also continuously boom for people who are very much interested to become a part of any medical career. This program is being offered by various universities and colleges globally but there are also sonogrpahy tech programs you can opt if you’ve taken other courses related to it previously. You need to be trained if you want to work in the industry because you will be dealing with sick people who need accurate result for the treatment of their ailment. Your main responsibilities include the following:


1. You need to obtain a record of each patient for accuracy.


2. Perform diagnostic procedures and images.


3. Analyze technical information.


4. Sonographers also know and fully understand the proper care they need to conduct on to protect their own body.

5.There are medical standards that need to be observed that’s why schools are there to help you prepare for the future in becoming a responsible and credible sonographer.
