Pharmacists need to respond quickly in emergency situations

Pharmacists respond quickly to emergencies and any other situation that may arise. Pharmacy technicians learn to formulate reports and conduct lab work at pharmacy schools. During emergencies they may need to respond quickly and provide the results as soon as possible. Delayed response may lead to fatal results. Pharmacists are responsible for keeping all the necessary medication in stock and providing the patients with the prescribed medication. At times they may need to resupply the hospital or any medical organization with a life saving drug. Pharmacist need to act quickly and locate and hand over the medication. They need to stay organised and know where everything is placed. At times a patient may need medication and delaying would cause discomfort to the patient.


If a person is suffering from asthma and has misplaced his breathing apparatus then it’s the pharmacist’s job to provide the correct medication since it’s a case of emergency. If the patient does not get his medication on time then his life is in danger and a pharmacist cannot afford to delay. A number of other illnesses need prompt medication. A patient could be diabetic or have a serious illness and the pharmacist is responsible for dispensing the needed cure. He needs to have a database of the patient to be able to provide the right medication in case of an emergency since the patient may not be carrying the prescription with him.


Pharmacists need to be on their toes and always alert however hard the day may be. They need to keep the staff in check and work in harmony with their co-workers and doctors. Any pharmacist who cannot think on his feet and act quickly in a variety of situations is not only endangering a patient but also holding his co-workers and doctors back. A lot of people depend on the pharmacist and keeping his responsibilities in mind the pharmacist needs to be efficient. A pharmacist’s career is suitable for people who have the inherent quality of staying calm in emergency situations and are able to complete their task speedily. A good pharmacist would respond quickly while dealing with patients and dispensing medication or advice. The number of people visiting the pharmacy varies on a day to day basis. A pharmacist cannot afford to be slow to respond as a number of people need his attention. A pharmacist has to deal with each patient as quickly as possible to avoid inconveniencing the other people.
