At this point in time, one may be inclined to inquire as to the difference of the two positions since both positions apparently serve the same purpose. This may entail having responsibilities such as taking care of the more rudimentary tasks such as feeding, and grooming in house animals, cleaning and sterilizing the medical equipment etc. Where a primary line of distinction is drawn in case of a vet assistant however is in the amount of supervision required. In case of a vet tech there is minimal to no supervision needed in performing tasks especially in the case of more experienced vet techs. However, a vet assistant still requires that a supervising veterinarian or veterinary tech be present at the time of performance of some tasks such as preparing test samples for analysis, administering medication etc.
