As a veterinary technician working in the field one can expect to be compensated on average, an amount of approximately $25,000 per year. This of course depends on other factors of consideration as well. Similarly, a veterinary assistant can hope to be paid an amount of approximately $23,000-$25,000 per year on average. Note: It is important to note at this point that a vet tech requires a minimum qualification of a degree to be eligible, as such an average salary range for a high school diploma will not be available for comparison’s sake in case of vet techs.

Associate’s Degree: A veterinary tech holding varying associate’s degree in science is likely to be eligible for an average salary grade ranging around $35,000-$45,000 (approx) per year depending on the degree itself. The Associate Degree in Animal Science is likely to earn one the highest pay hike with an average $35,000 (approx.) per year. Related salary ranges include an average $32,000 for an Associate of Applied Science – veterinary technology (AAS) degree, an average $31,000 (approx.) per year for an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) Degree, and an average $30,000 for an Associate Science (AS) degree. While in case of vet assistants, the highest salary hike is offered to a candidate holding an Associate’s Degree in Applied Sciences – Veterinary Technology (AAS) which makes one eligible for an average annual salary of $32,500 (approx.) per year. Other related salary ranges include, an average $28,000 for an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree and an average $26,000 for an Associate of Science (AS) degree.

Bachelor’s Degree: A veterinary tech holding varying Bachelor’s degree in science on the other hand, is likely to be eligible for a varying average salary grade ranging around $35,000-$38,000 (approx) per year depending on the degree itself. The Bachelor of Science (BS) degree is likely to earn one the highest pay hike with an average $38,000 (approx) per year. The only other related Bachelor’s degree in this category is a Bachelor of Science, Biology (B.sc Biology) which yields an annual average salary of 35,000 per year. While in case of vet assistants, the highest salary hike is offered to a candidate holding Bachelor of Science Degree which makes one eligible for an average annual salary of $30,000 (approx.) per year. Other related salary ranges include, $28,000 per year for a Bachelor of Science, Biology (B.sc Biology) degree and $25,000 per year for a Bachelor of Arts, Biology (BA Biology) degree.
